1. Amazing Campground – well worth the drive!

Meat Cove is one of those places that everyone recommends, and with good reason! The campsite was amazing, incredible view and a great beach down below. Just be careful with the beverages, particularly after dark. That cliffside is very close to some of the campsites! The food at the Chowder Hut was great. Simple seafood but well done. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here but the road was great. Gravel in some stretches but in good shape. Well worth the drive!

2.  Good food and great views

Reviewed 12 November 2016

I came here 20 years ago when the road from the Meat Cove to Aspy Bay was all gravel and so It was a surprise that most of that road was paved now. Not as isolated as before we came here for a lunch meal of fish & chips and watched the sea and enjoyed the weather. The last time I was here in August 1995 I caught the sight of a pod of 50 whales in the bay below and saw a blue whale moving through the water off the bay, Not so lucky this time but this place brought back fond memories. Service for food was fast and the fish was delish!

It was a great way to make a detour on the Cabot trail, and not have to rush. Only thing with this campground, if you want a tent site, they don’t reserve, it’s first come. You are able to reserve a cabin, we did. No electricity, no big deal. Mattress is as hard as the rocks on the beach, lol. They don’t sell beer for drinking at your campsite, if you want it at the restaurant, you drink it there.
